was an excellent guide on our recent trip to Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lakes and Chola Pass. He was knowledgeable, caring and patient, giving special attention to my sister and I who are in our mid to late 60s. Nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to give us an amazing experience. I am so glad we added Gokyo Lakes to the trip as seeing the views from Gokyo Ri and crossing Chola Chola Pass were highlights. Phunu is a keen and talented photographer too and I have an extraordinary record of our trip both from my own photos and his. I have no hesitation in recommending him as a guide. Phunuru is kind, patient, funny, and empathetic man, and he always seemed to know the best thing to say or do to make this incredibly difficult trek enjoyable and impactful. He is also very knowledgable about the mountain and the people who live there, and his experience and charisma allowed us to connect with the locals we encountered and form meaningful lasting connections. Phunuru also guided us through Kathmandu, both before and after our trek, and his knowledge and connection to Nepal allowed us to enjoy that beautiful city and left us with unforgettable experiences there. No matter what we wanted to do, he would do his best to make it happen, and there is SO much to do and see in Kathmandu. It's not just Phunuru that makes this experience so special though. All of his porters and assistant guides also share that same kindness and empathy, and they will do whatever they can to make sure your experience is something unforgettable and special. We woke up at 4:30 AM for a 3 hour climb Gokyo Ri, and we were surprised to see our porters at the top of the mountain waiting for us with hot tea and snacks! I came to nepal knowing nobody and nothing, and I left with an intimate love of that very special country, and multiple friends who I hope to stay in touch with for the rest of my life. Phunuru was the first and closest friend I made there, and the rest wouldn't have been possible without him. In short, I cannot recommend him enough as a guide, a friend, or a person. I was truly so lucky to have had Phunu as our guide! I was nervous to travel alone halfway across the world but Phunu made sure all of us were safe and enjoying our trek the entire time. Not only that, but he goes above and beyond with his photography and videoing skills. He is amazing at it and everyone in my group not only had an incredible time, but had so many photos of our trip to look back on it.
