The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is considerably different from the 12 Year Old, with more vanilla notes, traces of green apple, creamy toffee, and an impressive richness and complexity. Both share the same honeyed, spicy qualities. The Balvenie DoubleWood 17-year-old is first aged in American oak barrels, which offer mellow, sweet vanilla notes, before being transferred to European oak sherry casks for a second maturation stage. This second cask ageing stage adds rich, spicy qualities as well as a depth and fullness of flavor.
